Bonuses
Betting bonuses: what each type is really worth
A betting bonus is worth less than the amount in the headline. Rollover, minimum odds and the bookmaker's margin all take a share, and a free bet only pays out the winnings.
This page compares the bonus types, shows how to work out what an offer leaves you with, and links to a page for each type. The Gambling Prevention Act 2026 replaced the Public Gambling Act 1867 and makes online gambling and online betting criminal offences in Bangladesh. A foreign licence held by a bookmaker, such as Curaçao, does not make betting legal here.

Short answer
Which betting bonus is best?
The one that leaves the most once the terms are met. A deposit bonus with a low rollover usually leaves the most; a free bet is simpler but only pays the winnings. At odds 3.00 a free bet is worth about 63% of its face value on average.

Bonus maths
How to value a free bet
Value ≈ amount × (odds − 1) ÷ odds
with margin: × (1 − margin)
Example:
1,000 × 2.00 ÷ 3.00 × 0.95 = ৳633.3
Why the stake does not count
A normal ৳1,000 bet at odds 3.00 returns ৳3,000 if it wins, stake included. A free bet only pays the winnings, ৳2,000.
What it means: the value is the winnings times the chance. At a 5% margin the chance is 31.7%, and 31.7% × ৳2,000 = ৳633.
The formula assumes the odds reflect the true chance minus the bookmaker's margin.
Comparison
The bonus types side by side
The terms decide the value more than the amount. A smaller bonus without rollover can be worth more than a larger one you must stake many times.
| Bonus type | How it works | Requires | What you keep | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Deposit bonus | The bookmaker adds money to your first deposit | Deposit and rollover | The bonus minus what the rollover costs | worth it when the rollover is low and the minimum odds are fair. |
| Free bet | A bet the bookmaker pays the stake for | Often a first bet or a deposit | 63% of the amount at odds 3.00 | easy to value, but the stake never comes back. |
| Cashback | A share of losses back over a period | Losing bets in the period | The refund, as cash or bonus money | check whether it is paid as cash or with a rollover. |
| No-rollover bonus | Winnings can be withdrawn at once | Usually a deposit | All the winnings | fewer terms to track, usually smaller amounts. |
| No-deposit bonus | A small bonus or free bet for signing up | Registration and verification | The winnings after the terms | low risk, but often a max win and a short expiry. |

Glossary
Bonus terms
- Welcome offer
- The bonus a bookmaker gives a new customer, usually on the first deposit. So what: it is normally the largest offer, and you get it once per account.
- Rollover
- How many times the bonus (sometimes plus the deposit) must be staked before it can be withdrawn. So what: every taka you stake costs the bookmaker's margin on average, so a high rollover eats the value.
- Minimum odds
- The lowest odds a bet must have to count towards the rollover. So what: higher minimum odds mean more of your bets lose.
- Free bet
- A bet where the bookmaker pays the stake. So what: only the winnings are paid out, the stake is not returned.
- Margin
- The share of all stakes a bookmaker keeps on average, built into the odds. So what: it decides what the rollover costs you.
- Expiry
- How long the bonus or free bet can be used. So what: anything not used in time is removed from the account.
- Max win
- The most you can win from bonus money. So what: a cap lowers the value of bets at high odds.
FAQ
What is a betting bonus?
An offer from a bookmaker, usually to new customers: extra money on the first deposit, a free bet or a share of losses back. Every bonus comes with terms such as rollover, minimum odds and an expiry date.
Which betting bonus is worth the most?
The one that leaves the most after its terms. A deposit bonus with a low rollover usually leaves more than a large bonus with a high one. A free bet is simple, but it only pays the winnings: at odds 3.00 it is worth about 63% of its face value on average.
Is a betting bonus free money?
No. Meeting the rollover costs the bookmaker's margin on average, and a free bet does not return its stake. Expect to keep part of the amount, not all of it.
What is the difference between a free bet and a deposit bonus?
A deposit bonus adds money to your deposit and usually has to be staked several times. A free bet is a stake the bookmaker pays for, and only the winnings are paid out.
Can I withdraw bonus money straight away?
Only when the bonus has no rollover. Otherwise the rollover must be completed first, and most bookmakers also ask for identity verification before the first withdrawal.
Is it legal to claim a betting bonus in Bangladesh?
No bonus changes the law. The Gambling Prevention Act 2026 makes online gambling and online betting offences in Bangladesh, and a bookmaker's foreign licence does not make it legal. Read our responsible gambling page before you decide anything.
