Sign-up bonus: what a welcome offer leaves after the terms
A sign-up bonus is the offer a new customer gets, usually a match on the first deposit. The headline amount is the cap, not the value: the rollover decides how much is left.
Here we show how to work out what a welcome offer is worth and which terms to read before you deposit.
- Typical rollover
- 5x–15x on sports bonuses
- Typical expiry
- 7–30 days check each offer
- 3-leg accumulator
- 14.3% margin at 5% per leg
- Free bet at odds 3.00
- 63% of the amount
Short answer
Is a sign-up bonus worth taking?
It can be, if the rollover is low and the minimum odds are fair. Each round of rollover costs the bookmaker's margin, and accumulators cost more: three legs at 5% each carry a margin of about 14.3%.
Bonus maths
When the welcome offer is a free bet
Value ≈ amount × (odds − 1) ÷ odds
with margin: × (1 − margin)
Example:
1,000 × 2.00 ÷ 3.00 × 0.95 = ৳633.3
The stake is not paid out
Some welcome offers are free bets rather than deposit matches. A ৳1,000 free bet at odds 3.00 pays ৳2,000 if it wins, without the stake.
What it means: at a 5% margin the chance is 31.7%, and 31.7% × ৳2,000 = ৳633.
The terms
Seven terms that decide what a welcome offer is worth
Read the rollover first. It decides how much of the bonus is left more than any other term.
| Term | What it means | What to look for |
|---|---|---|
| Rollover | How many times the bonus must be staked | Lower is better; 5x–15x is common for sports. |
| Minimum odds | The lowest odds that count towards rollover | 1.50–2.00 is common; higher means more losing bets. |
| Expiry | Days to complete the rollover | Longer gives you room to bet at your own pace. |
| Singles or multiples | Whether singles count, or only accumulators | Accumulator-only rollover costs more in margin. |
| Max win | A cap on winnings from bonus money | Matters most if you bet at high odds. |
| Eligible markets | Sports and markets the bonus can be used on | Check that cricket markets are included. |
| Max stake | A cap on each bet while the bonus is active | Limits how fast you can complete the rollover. |

Glossary
Bonus terms
- Welcome offer
- The bonus a bookmaker gives a new customer, usually on the first deposit. So what: it is normally the largest offer, and you get it once per account.
- Rollover
- How many times the bonus (sometimes plus the deposit) must be staked before it can be withdrawn. So what: every taka you stake costs the bookmaker's margin on average, so a high rollover eats the value.
- Minimum odds
- The lowest odds a bet must have to count towards the rollover. So what: higher minimum odds mean more of your bets lose.
- Expiry
- How long the bonus or free bet can be used. So what: anything not used in time is removed from the account.
- Max win
- The most you can win from bonus money. So what: a cap lowers the value of bets at high odds.
- KYC
- Know your customer: the identity check before a withdrawal. So what: a bonus can sit locked until your account is verified.
FAQ
What is a sign-up bonus?
The offer a bookmaker gives a new customer, usually a match on the first deposit, sometimes a free bet. You can claim it once per bookmaker.
How does a deposit match work?
A 100% match doubles your deposit up to a cap. A ৳5,000 deposit with a 100% match gives ৳5,000 in bonus money, which you must usually stake several times before you can withdraw it.
What does a 5x rollover cost?
Staking ৳5,000 of bonus money five times means ৳25,000 in bets. Every one of those bets costs the bookmaker's margin on average, so part of the bonus is used up before you can withdraw. The lower the rollover, the more is left.
Can I use bKash or Nagad to claim a sign-up bonus?
Some bookmakers exclude certain payment methods from the welcome offer. Check the bonus terms for excluded methods before you deposit.
Do I need to verify my account?
Most bookmakers ask for ID before the first withdrawal, and a bonus can stay locked until the check is done.
Is it legal to claim a betting bonus in Bangladesh?
No bonus changes the law. The Gambling Prevention Act 2026 makes online gambling and online betting offences in Bangladesh, and a bookmaker's foreign licence does not make it legal. Read our responsible gambling page before you decide anything.
